Sequins are Forever
As the mantra goes: “Never save anything for best!” I absolutely love sequins, you can never have enough.
And they certainly shouldn’t be saved just for Christmas – I wear them year-round as they create such a happy outfit, which I have no doubt is good for the soul. If you are ever feeling slightly “meh”, then throw on some sequins and a lather of red lipstick – I promise you, it helps! Here a few recent finds to give you some inspiration.
Marks & Spencer, £29.50
Such a fab skirt, fun print, with all the glitz and would be surprisingly versatile – is comes in regular and long too. And all this for a great price point. This can be dressed down with trainers, a tee and a leather jacket; or for a more dress down lunch/dinner wear with long boots (get the longer length if there is a risk of the skirt looking too short with the boots) and a chunky knit; or go full whack, with the killer strappy sandals and a black lace top.
Warehouse, £42
Fun, yet chic. Love this zebra print top. It could easily be worn from day to night. Pair at work with a black tux style blazer and a plated faux leather skirt or high waisted trousers. As soon as its time to go out, add some killer heels and red lipstick. Easy as that.
Zara, £59.99
Sequin flares, not for the fainthearted, but they will certainly do the trick! Flares are actually very flattering and will add proportion to most figures and create super long legs if you wear with heels. Wear with a matching blazer for the full “wow” effect, or dress down with a white tee or cami and a leather or denim jacket. Unless you have super long legs, always wear with heels.
Zara, £80
A fun alternative to the LBD. Flirty and fun, with a bit of edge. Wear with killer brightly coloured heels or boots, and even dare to play around with some fun tights.
Mango, £119.99
Beautiful ombre midi dress. Perfect for dazzling on the town, but this would look equally good with a leather jacket and white trainers. For cooler days, wear with a black or cream cashmere jumper over the top, so it double as skirt. It is more versatile than you think!
Mango, £149.99
Love this! So unusual and would jazz up any outfit with a subtle sparkle in those gorgeous Autumn colours. Wear over skinny black jeans or faux leather trousers, with a lace cami, or nothing underneath.
RIXO, £375
There’s no doubt about it, everyone will be asking you where you got this beauty. The stunning sequin stripes would look stunning with some strappy sandals or even some bright purple suede or leopard print courts and a leopard print belt. It is a show stopper.
The moral to the tale, don’t be shy or scared of sequins. You don’t need to be going “out out” to wear them, but when you do, you will no doubt feel that little bit more special than if you opted for something a little less sparkly. Top tip – if you are feeling tired and need to look fresher faced and more awake, lipstick and sequins should be your go-to items, as no one notice those tired eyes!
